In our Inner wheel Social entrepreneur series in this episode we are introducing you a very dynamic and and popular social entrepreneur of Inner wheel who firmly believes in Social service and charity work yes we are talking about about Poonam Agha past District Chairman of IWC 312.She shared her Glorious Inner wheel Journey with Hello Womeniya.
Brief introduction of Poonam Agha:-
Poonam has a distinct personality befitting a leader, having her dreams higher, ambitions bigger, commitments deeper, and efforts greater. Due to her humble grooming based on higher standards of moral values, she bloomed into an intellectually glittering and dynamic persona. Born on 30th August, She hails from Rampur, UP. Her father had been in higher judicial services.
Having all through a first-class career, She did her Master’s in English literature from Rohilkhand University. She ushered development in every field of academics and co-curricular activities and added many more feathers in her cap by giving her sound participation in all the activities at the school and college level. She had always been optimistic to achieve the best. God conferred his blessings and on 13th April 1986, she got married in the reputed family of Rai Saheb Rai Bahadur Saraswati Prasad Ji, Lakhimpur Kheri. Her husband Past District Governor RID 3120 Dr. Ajai Kumar Agha is a staunch Rotarian and presently is Associate Professor and HOD Zoology in a PG College, Lakhimpur Kheri. Poonam and Ajai are blessed with two sons Apoorv and Akshat. Elder son Er. Apoorv Agha is working as Lead Acoustics and Vibration Engineer at Dyson Ltd., Singapore, and married to Reema, Marketing Manager working with IMAPAC Ltd., Singapore. Younger son ER.Dr. Akshat Agha is Material Testing Lead at FADI AMT, LLC in Greenville, South Carolina, USA, and married to Er. Shweta, working with Fidelity Investments, Dallas, Texas, USA.
She joined InnerWheel in 1995 as a member of Inner Wheel Club Lakhimpur Kheri and excelled at every post. Club Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and President in 2000-01. Her dedication was acknowledged and that brought her Best President Award. Working continuously at the district posts as International Service Organizer, District Secretary, and District Vice Chairman she became District Chairman of IWD 312 in 2006-07 and brought many laurels to the district. In her tenure as District Chairman, she compiled The History of InnerWheel District 312 and got this voluminous History Book published in her District Conference.
She has a strong belief in God and is always keen to illuminate the lives of the less privileged. She stands like a pillar of strength and support for the needy, especially old people and physically challenged.
She is a member of Ladies Club Lakhimpur Kheri for the last 34 years and has served as president in 2008-09. As a member of Mahila Kalyan Samiti, Lakhimpur she has been imparting free training to the poor helpless women folk. To date, Samiti has trained more than 5000 girls in stitching and embroidery. Poonam is Director and Advisor in Saujanya Samajik Sanstha, Lakhimpur. She is an active member of Akanksha Samiti of Lakhimpur too. Besides this She is nominated by District Magistrate, Lakhimpur as a member in the Vigilance Committee of NRHM at District General Hospital and Doughrine Hospital, Lakhimpur Kheri. Jan Parishad, an organization run by PAP Mrs. Saroj Lalwani felicitated Poonam as one among the hundred Leading ladies of India in the year 2004.
Poonam is a widely traveled person, having visited more than twenty-seven countries. Her hobbies include reading, writing, cooking, homemaking, music, traveling, and making friends. Her dealing with elders and youngsters endears her to all. She is sure to leave her incredible prints on the sand of time whatever and wherever she works.
