While sharing her humanitarian services amid lockdown with Hello Womeniya News Aruna Arora, third time elected Municipal Councilor, (Jalandhar Model Town), says she has been working tirelessly to ensure proper sanitation.
At a time when people were confined indoors to stay safe amid the Covid pandemic, this woman warrior steps out for helping people.
Speaking to Hello Womeniya News Reporter Neha Singh over phone-call she said, “I have personally hired some garbage collectors who work in my area for an hour or so every morning. They bring in their carts and pick all waste piles from alongside the roads.”
She alongside six Safai Karam Charis whom she has hired on her own, takes to the streets of posh localities like Model Town, Lajpat Nagar and New Jawahar Nagar which all falls under the jurisdiction of her Ward No. 27. She further ensures that all streets are cleansed and the garbage piled up are lifted well in time before they get scattered.
She has distributed ration kits to the public and also served packed food for almost 101 days to serve the people of Jalandhar. She has tied up with an NGO for Tree Plantation Program and as of now, they have planted 900 plant saplings which includes fruit bearings in previous months. She along with Radha Soami Dera provided Langar to people daily.
Remarkably, Aruna Arora is General Secretary Punjab Mahila Congress at Indian National Congress. She is the proud third time elected Councilor from Model Town Jalandhar.
Model town Jalandhar is credited and cited as the leading areas of Punjab after she had put her hard efforts for development. The most beautiful parks of Punjab are situated in Model Town Jalandhar.
She was selected for A State Award In 2017 on Independence Day for making best efforts in the city.
She is fondly addressed as ‘IRON LADY’ of Jalandhar for her hardwork. She has been doing most of her work out of her personal expense.
She has emerged as one of the leading ladies of the Town because she happens to be the only woman despite 40 other Councilors in the city who is not dependent on her husband for her work and is doing everything on her own.
Moreover she added “I have a team of dedicated volunteers who have been working nonstop just to show development in the town. It’s because of the team work, we have been able to see the new look of the Model Town Market.
She feels indebted to her members, residents of Jalandhar, and her family who supported her in this initiative.
