In our Inner wheel Social entrepreneur series in this episode, we are introducing you to a very dynamic and popular social Entrepreneur of the Inner wheel who firmly believes in Social service and charity work. Yes, we are talking about Ila Thakkar who is the current President of IWC of Porbandar Dis 306.
Brief Introduction of IWC :
International Inner Wheel Club is an international women’s Social organisation to create friendship, service, and understanding. It has clubs in over 100 countries with over 100,000 members.IWC has a very strong presence in India. It has more than 3000 thousand clubs in Urban and rural India. Since the Covid 19 Pandemic breaks out Inner wheel club launched a charity campaign worldwide.
Inner wheel club is an active and vibrant organisation that aids the poor and needy people even in nature’s calamity.

Its helping hand in the distribution
If essential items to the needy and poor.
Amid this Covid-19 2nd Wave pandemic, everyone is going through dilemmas and the Inner Clubs are trying to minimize it
Needless to mention Inner wheel clubs have accomplished numerous significant social projects in medical, vocational, educational, and many other areas of endeavor.
Amid this Pandemic, they are providing benefits to the needy ones.
Even in the 1st Wave of the pandemic Inner Wheel Club has risen to the grim situation and distributed essential items to the needy and poor.

Creative power is something which is the most gracious thing which almighty God gifted to all of us. Nurturing the said power among all of us, Ilaben Thakkar is running Aparna Hobby Centre for the last 30 years. Learning and experimenting with something new and creative is at the heart of our Hobby Centre. Specialization in Art and Craft World – She have specialized in various forms of creative art like Ceramic work, all types of painting, paper crafts, Flower Making, Soft Toys, Tie and Die, Silver-Golden Tree, Gift Packing, WaterFall, Decorations (like Aarti, Anna, and Chhab), Artistic Frames, Rangoli, Calligraphy, Candle Making, Ankodi work, Shuttle work, Dori Work, Pearl Work and many more. She has participated in various workshops and exhibitions organized by District Industry and Index-C to promote the various types of Art. Additionally, she also organizes cooking classes covering Ice Cream making, Sweets, Vegetable Carving and Decorations, and various cuisines ranging from Punjabi, Chinese, Italian, and many more.
Contribution to various NGOs – I was President of Shree Porbandar Lohana Mahila Mandal 2014-15 and held various positions since 2021. Ex-President of Inner Wheel Club of Porbandar (organized various projects on art and vocational training during my presidency). Due to extensive knowledge in the field of Art, she has been invited by institutions as a judge for competitions in the field of Art and Craft.
Awards and Achievements – she has been honored by various awards and institutions like Gujarat State Governor, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Lohana Mahila Mandal, Lohana Maha Parishad (In presence of Supreme Court judge Dr. C V Thakkar), Akhil Gujarat Lohana Samaj, Jalaram Seva Samiti, “Nari Gaurav Award” by Fulchaab for contribution in the art world.
Arpan Hobby Centre believes in imparting in-depth knowledge in Art and Craft and make the daughter of this country more self-reliant and will continue to contribute in every possible way for years to come.
Her Inner-Wheel Journey:-
She joined the Inner Wheel Club of Porbandar in 2004-2005. She was successful in fulfilling my responsibilities with different posts. Her basic nature is to help others in times of need. She was elected President in the year ’08-’09 and was fortunate enough to again hold this position during the Pandemic.
With the help of Secretary CHARU SHAH, PDC. RADHIKABEN and all other members, she was able to fulfill her duties as a President. Executed many projects like Child Care, Senior Citizens, Awareness Webinars & Seminars, Educational Help, Health & Hygiene, Women Empowerment, and Branding of Inner – Wheel. A donation was given to Manav Seva Charitable Trust in this Pandemic situation for the renovation of the Crematorium.
Scholarships were given to Girl students of Std. 10th, 12th, MSW & Computer Engineering, as the families faced a financial crisis in this Pandemic. In this second wave, a donation was given to the Covid Help Association. We gave Oxygen Regulator Kit, Humidifier, Trolley to carry the Oxygen Cylinder, Saline Stand, Oximeter, Methylene Blue, etc.
Masks with Inner Wheel Logo were distributed to Club Members, Senior Citizens at different Old Age Homes, Labourers who work on roads, and Children in the slum area. Medical Kit and Sanitizer Stand were given to Asha Children Hospital and Blood Bank for Thalassemic children.
Sanitary Pads were given to needy girls at different schools. The Incinerator Machine was given to a school. Ration Kit was distributed to needy families during the festival. Sweaters were distributed to children in slum areas. Different Banners with slogans for awareness like Cleanliness, Water Harvesting, Remove Plastic, Save Environment, Save Water, and Helpline number are put on Auto Rickshaw for Inner Wheel branding.
Essential items like Fruits, Namkeen, Dates, Cakes, Pastries, Wafers, Stationery Kit were given to children and Senior Citizens at various festivals. More than 90 projects were carried out serving the society by the Grace of Almighty.
Under the health and hygiene projects, 14 projects were done including awareness lectures and a total number of beneficiaries were 5195 plus, the same way for senior citizens, a total of 12 projects were done from which 1028 senior citizens benefited. under Education/ Vocational training for Child care, 19 programs were organised from which 2380 children were benefited 4 program’s of patriotism,5 projects of water conservation and Environment, 2 projects were organized for IW branding from which 632 benefited, till today 90 plus projects were undertaken by IWC Porbandar under various heads from which approximately more than twelve thousand persons were benefited.
She strongly believes, “God gives us a chance to serve society, so Grab the opportunity and do your best.”
The contribution was given to Porbandar Manav Seva Charitable trust for Crematorium Renovation. Arranged Mega Eye-Camp for needy people. Checked 175 people and operated 34 patients for Cataract. Given Sanitary Pads to 1800 girls and 1 Incinerator was donated to Maharani Shri Baluba Kanya Vidhyalaya. Given 140 Sweater to Slum Area Children in Various Government Schools. Donated 50,000 to Covid Help Association in this second-wave Pandemic Situation. Scholarship to 10Needy Girls Students who are studying in MSW, Diploma Computer Engg.10th,12th.

This District is one of the most important districts of Inner Wheel India which covers big cities and districts of Gujarat such as Surat, Anand, Vapi, Navsari, Junagadh, and Dhule District of Maharashtra. Dis 306 performed well during the pandemic and did many charity projects during Lockdown.
