Sonika Gupta District Chairman Of Inner Wheel Club District 307 Shares Her Vivid Experience In Leading From The Front By Serving The Community With Hello Womeniya News Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

Inner Wheel is the largest women’s service organization in the world, with more than 1,09,265 members and 4,003 Clubs across continents.

Sonika Gupta is the District Chairman is in the 35th year of Dist. 307, comprising Jammu & Kashmir, parts of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab with 46 Clubs and more than 1,500 members.

Sonika Gupta is a district level badminton player and a horse-rider. She has done much philanthropic work not only for this covid pandemic, but she also worked in other fields too. She has her inclination for social service.


Speaking to Neha Singh, Hello Womeniya News Reporter, she said, when Covid-19 struck India in March, and spread ragingly, she and her team took it as a challenging opportunity to serve the poor and needy. While people are mandatorily locked in houses and government ordered physical-distancing, they immediately swung into action and took permission from local authorities to work with them for distribution of groceries and eatables to needy families in the slum areas of her territory.

The Club further donated Gadgets, Equipments like digital thermometers, stretchers, medicines, masks, sanitizers, sanitizer stands, gloves, PPE kits to Hospitals. Along with that also provided Medicines- 340 strips of Vitamin C, Calcium, Becozyme and 2050 doses of Hepatitis B.
They even honored covid frontline warriors, local administrative officers, doctors, municipal workers for their enormous efforts. They as well organized a blood donation camp on a large scale. PPE kits were distributed to the doctors.
When Sonika was asked about her vision for 2020- 2021, she replied “Our Aim is to achieve the goal of HOPE.
H- Health and hygiene.
O- Orphans and old people.
P- Patriotism, I’m a responsible Indian.
E- Environment.”

 

With her vision, kind words and positivity, DC Sonika has successfully motivated all Inner Wheel Members through seminars and training programs and worked relentlessly for Environment, Health and to Serve the Covid Warriors at ground level during lockdown.

She also mentioned that they had distributed 900 packets of sanitary napkins to women in slum areas. They have helped the corona patients and their families by providing monetary assistance. They have paid the educational fees of many children and also arranged medical treatment to corona affected patients.

Apart from all these, they had organized online Covid-19 awareness seminars, webinar for counseling of old people, Quiz programs and competitions for school children on Independence Day. They have adopted 33 abandoned parks/gardens for plantation purpose. Till now they have planted more than 5000 plants. They have also created 3 IWC Forests by acquiring land from Forest department.

She further went on to add that amid the lockdown there was excellent growth in membership. 88 new members were inducted in the first 2 months of the year. This target was achieved by constant efforts of DC Sonika Gupta. She added that formation of three new clubs will be announced soon.

Notably, all the above are counts to a sum of Rs.5,07,805/-

In her message she said, “People should take all precautions and stay at home and should find different ways to reach out to the needy people. A small contribution can make a big difference.”


Needless to point out that Inner Wheel Clubs are true warriors of this Covid-19 pandemic. Amid the lockdown they have undertaken many charitable projects by helping the poor and needy in their hour of need. Spread across India and countries across the seven seas Inner Wheel Association believes in humanity and work with a motto of “We Serve.”

Inner Wheel is an organization for dedicated women to share their friendship, passion for community service and take action to Lead the change!

She intends to put to use the alternate energy to maximum. For this she has plans to light up remote villages in hilly areas, by providing them with solar energy. Negotiations are on for providing solar lighting to a remote village in Himachal & Jammu. As this being a big project she appeals to the masses to step forward and help. Any form of aid is welcome.
