On PM Modi’s visit to Poland, Winner of the Pravasi Bharatiya award and Vice President of Indo-Polish Chambers of Commerce, Amit Lath says, “This is a historic visit as after 45 years an Indian PM is visiting Poland…India and Poland can build a great partnership…Poland is one of the top five economies in Europe…I am sure that there are going to be a lot of areas of collaboration and cooperation between the two countries…Indian vegetarian food has become a new trend in Europe…India has progressed very fast in the last decade…India has the youngest population in the world…Many Indian companies can collaborate with Poland in the pharma sector…”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Poland today, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 45 years. The visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Poland.

The last Indian Prime Minister to visit Poland was Morarji Desai in 1979.

“Leaving for Warsaw. This visit to Poland comes at a special time- when we are marking 70 years of diplomatic ties between our nations. India cherishes the deep-rooted friendship with Poland. This is further cemented by a commitment to democracy and pluralism,” PM Modi said in a statement.

 

PM visit to Poland and Ukraine Key Highlights :

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Poland on 21-22 August 2024. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the past 45 years.

​Prime Minister will be accorded a ceremonial welcome in Warsaw. He will call on President H.E. Mr. Andrzej Sebastian Duda and will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Donald Tusk. Prime Minister will also interact with the Indian community in Poland.

​Thereafter, Prime Minister will travel to Ukraine. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine after establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992.

​Prime Minister’s engagements in Kyiv will touch a range of aspects of bilateral ties including political, trade, economic, investments, education, cultural, people-to-people exchanges, humanitarian assistance and others. Prime Minister will also interact with Indian community, including students during the visit. PM’s landmark visit to Ukraine will help further consolidation and expansion of bilateral ties.
